With a backdrop of gray walls already in place, we set about bringing color, warmth and a bit of glamour to this open-plan project. These clients had already collected some incredible art with a strong point of view - we found ways to highlight each piece, and commissioned new works by Steve Hahn and Colette Hannahan to complement the new design. The kitchen area was updated by re-facing cabinets, replacing tile and hardware and adding a cozy corner dining banquette, crowned by a dramatic pendant light. In the family room, we designed a custom-made shelf unit to display a pair of sentimental drawings and several awards, amongst other parts of this family's story. A historical painting of a presidential ancestor felt out of place in this house...

until we designed a regal bar for him to preside over!
